"Having gone through a lifetime's worth of turmoil, marred by a marriage which was rife with the ugliness brought about by domestic violence and emotional abuse, I found that the only way that I would ever get back to the real Me was by reconnecting my Self to the Divine, by reaching out to God and through tears asking for Peace and for the pain to go away. It took me a long time to get to where I am right now, and everyday brings new adventures and new people who bring to my Life Joy, Happiness and Aloha like never before. I chose to dance because throughout my Life the only thing that made it known to the world that I was happy was when I was dancing. I knew that to dance was great, but to dance Hula was a completely different and wholly Spiritual experience for me and has always been...it was through the Dance of my 'Aumakua that I was able to rise above the ashes which were the evidence of the Truth of my Life and grow and again Become Me, only better...I cannot imagine my Life without this gorgeous Dance called Hula. I know the Power that the Beauty of Dance Holds for us all, and Now I am bringing it to the rest of the world of broken hearts and weary Souls...me ke aloha pumehana...Rox !! "
Kumu Anjanett Anelalani White saw a purpose for her life after having moved out of Southern California to the windy city of Chicago only to experience an undying desire to return to her 'aina roots. "I saw so much ugliness around me, and in my own life I saw that my time in Chicago was done...I experienced a reawakening within me...sort of a need to return, not just home to Southern California, but home to my roots. When Roxanne mentioned to me that we should do this I felt my heart burst with joy because it finally happened...I knew that I was Home, not only where I knew I belonged, but inside, too...I knew that I would be part of something huge and something that would bring light to the world...and here it is!
